Alexsander Academy

Alexsander Academy is a fully-accredited and specialized school designed to engage children with learning differences and special needs in ways that encourage academic success and social and emotional independence. Located in Roswell, GA, the school serves students in grades 1st-8th in their elementary/middle school program and 6th-12th+ in their middle/high school remediation program. At Alexsander Academy, teachers focus on building relationships with students and tailoring academic curriculum and social, emotional, and independence support that is individualized for each student. This flexibility means meeting them exactly where they are so that they can help them get to where they know they can go. The school's mission begins with relationships and is centered around the values of hope, relationship, academic success, and independence. Alexsander Academy is a place where students can achieve both educational and personal success, and the school's commitment to these students is strong. The school was established in 2008 by Stefanie Smith and Maya Mehanna, who were frustrated with the lack of flexibility teachers often have when striving to meet each student where they were academically, socially, and emotionally. The school is named in honor of Stefanie's nephew Alexsander, a young man with ADHD who passed away at 23 years old. Alexsander Academy's goal for all students is to get them to a place where they do not need the school's small supportive environment and can move on to larger, more traditional settings.
