About Arizona Department of Education

The Arizona Department of Education (ESS) is responsible for ensuring public education agencies in Arizona comply with the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and providing eligible children and youth with disabilities a free appropriate public education (FAPE). With a mission to support the needs of families of students with disabilities, ESS offers professional learning opportunities, provides technical assistance to schools, monitors schools for compliance with IDEA regulations, and administers the IDEA Entitlement grant. We are committed to providing quality education for all children and youth with disabilities in Arizona.
