Aspiring Hands, Inc. was founded in 2008 by Bryon Schaefer to help adults with capabilities in Lucas County, Ohio find meaningful roles in society through volunteering and service. Aspiring Hands is an innovative, community-based company that has made numerous firsts in the area, including being the first smaller provider to develop a recreational program for adults in the evenings, the first company in Ohio to have its own radio show, the first company to have an after school program staffed by adults with capabilities, the first company to develop job-specific training programs (Project Pizza and Share Our Grounds), and the first karate program. Our mission is to provide meaningful opportunities for adults with capabilities and to promote a sense of inclusion and belonging in our community.
