Bournelyf Special Camp (pronounced “born-a-leaf”) was founded in 1980 as a service project of the Church of the Loving Shepherd, a congregation welcoming people of all religious backgrounds. In 1989, the camp was incorporated as a Pennsylvania nonprofit organization with its own Board of Directors and by-laws, drawing parents and community members to the board in order to support its programs and expand its ability to serve the community. Located in West Chester, PA, Bournelyf Special Camp offers summer day camp programs that involve outdoor recreational activities, community outreach, and lifetime wellness. Our programs focus on developing communication and social skills for individuals with mild to moderate intellectual and developmental disabilities, with the goal of promoting each camper’s potential through challenging outdoor activities.
