The California State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) is an independent state agency that ensures people with developmental disabilities and their families receive the services and supports they need. They work to achieve a person-centered and family-based system of individualized services, supports, and other assistance. SCDD disrupts systems to make them work better for Californians with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families. They are guided by core values of self-determination, independence, productivity, integration, inclusion, advocacy, protection, and quality of life. Their services and support are free, so cost is never a barrier to access. In 2024 alone, their work reached over 9.3 million Californians.
