I, Chardell Buchanan, am a Registered Dietitian and the parent of a son with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder. When our family received the diagnosis, it changed our lives. I recognized the difficulty of taking care of my son while also caring for myself. To make things easier, I started small by swapping in whole grains and nutrient dense ingredients. Combining this with my RD skills made things much easier at mealtimes.
