At Children’s Institute for Learning Differences, we understand that speech therapy can be an important part of early intervention for autistic children. If you’re not sure if your child needs speech therapy, there are several signs to look for, such as difficulty responding to questions, starting or ending conversations, changing topics, using gestures, and understanding body language. We also know that there is a critical period for language development, which is why it’s important to start speech therapy as early as possible. If your child is very quiet, says only a few words, or doesn’t speak at all, they may need speech therapy. To learn more, take a look at our complete guide to everything you need to know about speech therapy.
