City of Tucson Parks and Recreation is proud to host Alvernon Park, a memorial to fallen Tucson Police Officer Jeffrey H. Ross. As a child, Officer Ross lived in the Peter Howell Neighborhood, near Alvernon Park. He served with the Tucson Police Department for four years before tragically being killed in the line of duty on February 18, 1982. Officer Ross was honored with the Scarlett Shield for injured officers, and his memory is kept alive through Alvernon Park, as well as the Tucson Police Departments Memorial Courtyard.
