At the Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center in Broadview Heights, Ohio, we understand how important it is to identify if your child needs speech therapy. Depending on the severity of the autism diagnosis, speech therapy is almost always recommended in order to work on social communication skills. These skills include responding to questions, starting or ending conversations, changing conversation topics, understanding body language, and more. Speech therapy is an important focus of early intervention and it is recommended to start as early as possible so that language and communication skills can be developed in a critical period of the brain. If your child struggles with speaking or using language, speech therapy can help them become more independent and confident.
