Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center (CHSC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving those with special communication needs. Founded in 1921 by Helen Newell Garfield, daughter-in-law of President James Garfield, CHSC has a long and remarkable history of helping individuals with communication challenges become independent members of the Greater Cleveland Community. Our mission is to provide lip-reading classes for adults who are deaf or hard of hearing. We are the nation’s oldest hearing and speech center and Northeast Ohio’s only organization dedicated solely to serving those with communication needs. With our innovative, personalized approach to care, CHSC strives to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
