For more than 15 years, Dr. Helene H Agatstein, founder of Educational Consultant, Inc., has been helping parents to secure appropriate services for their children from school districts. With a doctorate in special and gifted education from Columbia University Teachers College and a masters in Special Education from William and Mary, Dr. Agatstein has over 21 years of experience as Director of Special Programs for the Hewlett Woodmere School District and has worked with over 25 school districts on Long Island, Westchester, Connecticut, New York City, New Jersey and North Carolina. She combines her knowledge of federal and state laws and provisions under IDEA and 504 with her expertise to aid parents and students, often teaming with attorneys to secure needed placements and services.
