The Georgia Department of Public Health and DeKalb County Board of Health are proud to offer Babies Can’t Wait, an early intervention program for infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities. Established as a federal mandate under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Babies Can’t Wait provides a framework for coordinating developmental, educational, and community support within natural environments for children under three and their families. With 17% of US children having developmental disabilities, and many more experiencing delays in language or cognition, Babies Can’t Wait works with physicians and health care providers to identify these children during infancy so that they can receive the support they need. Our goal is to ensure that all children, regardless of their challenges, can reach their full potential.
