The Georgia Department of Public Health District 4 Public Health Lamar County Health Department provides specialized care for children under 3 years old who have special needs, developmental delays, or chronic health conditions. Our Babies Can’t Wait program screens children for physical and cognitive health, motor skills, communication, social/emotional growth, and adaptive development. We use a multi-disciplinary approach involving physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists, special instructors, and service coordinators to improve a child’s development potential and meet family needs. We recognize the importance of early detection of developmental delays in order to give children the best opportunity for success in school.
