At Kenny Rogers Children’s Center, we understand that it can be difficult to know whether your child needs speech therapy or not. We recommend that all autistic children receive speech therapy, as many people with autism have difficulty with social communication. Your child may need to work on communication skills such as responding to questions, starting or ending conversations, changing conversation topics, using gestures like pointing, and understanding other people’s body language. Speech therapy is a key part of early intervention for autistic children, and is highly recommended for those recently diagnosed to help them develop language and communication skills. Kenny Rogers Children’s Center provides personalized speech therapy services to help your child communicate effectively in all environments. Our experienced speech therapists specialize in nonverbal skills, forming speech in a clearer way, communicating thoughts and feelings clearly, understanding and responding to questions, discerning facial expressions and their corresponding emotions, noticing and understanding body language, feeding, and swallowing. We utilize a variety of methods, including gestures, simple signs, verbal speech, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to meet your child’s individual needs.
