At Kinetic Kids, Inc. (Partner Facility | St. Anthony High School), we understand that it can be difficult to determine if your child needs speech therapy. It is almost always recommended for autistic children since difficulties with social communication are common. Even if a child appears to be verbal, they may benefit from help with communication skills such as responding to questions, changing the conversation topic, and understanding nonverbal cues. Speech therapy is an important part of early intervention for autistic children and can help them to become more independent and confident. Signs that a child may need speech therapy include not speaking, speaking very quietly, or saying only a few words. Our complete guide to everything you need to know about speech therapy can help you determine if your child needs this type of intervention.
