Mental Health Advocacy Services, Inc. (MHAS) is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1977 with a mission to provide free legal services to people with mental health disabilities. Our services are focused on assisting children and adults, with a special emphasis on obtaining government benefits and services, resolving housing discrimination, preventing homelessness, consumer finance, expungement and other areas. At MHAS, we strive to provide resources to the community in the form of training and technical assistance to attorneys, mental health professionals, consumer and family member groups, and other advocates. We also participate in impact litigation, working to improve the lives of people with mental disabilities.
