Mobility International USA (MIUSA) is a global leader for empowering people with disabilities to achieve their human rights. Founded in 1981, MIUSA works with people with and without disabilities from over 80 countries, providing year-round international exchange and international development activities. These activities include living with homestay families, leadership seminars, disability rights workshops, cross-cultural learning, and team building activities such as river rafting and challenge courses. Participants develop strategies for making changes, both within themselves and in their communities. MIUSA has also designed specialized programs for youth, young adults, parents, professionals and women with disabilities. Their projects focus on infusing the perspectives of women with disabilities into international women’s movements and development agendas. In 1995, Founder and President, Marsha Saxton received the President’s Award from President Bill Clinton for her leadership in international exchange programs and for her mentorship of young people with disabilities. MIUSA continues to collaborate with international agencies to ensure the full and equal participation of people with disabilities in the development process.
