If you’re wondering if your child needs speech therapy, PACT: Helping Children with Special Needs Incorporated is here to help. Speech therapy is often recommended for children with autism since many have difficulty with social communication, even if they are very verbal. Speech therapy focuses on teaching communication skills such as responding to questions, changing conversation topics, and understanding body language. Early intervention is key in language development, so it’s important to start speech therapy as soon as possible if there are any delays. Signs that your child may need speech therapy include being very quiet, saying only a few words, or not speaking at all. To learn more about speech therapy, PACT: Helping Children with Special Needs Incorporated has created an informative guide to help you better understand this important treatment.
At PACT: Helping Children with Special Needs Incorporated, our speech therapists are dedicated to helping children with communication difficulties. We focus on helping children develop nonverbal skills, such as signs or gestures, and forming speech more clearly. Our speech therapists can also help children communicate their thoughts and feelings more effectively, understand and respond to questions, discern facial expressions and their associated emotions, recognize and interpret body language, and improve feeding and swallowing. We strive to ensure that our clients have the necessary skills to communicate effectively in all environments.
