Parents of Autistic Children is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation originally founded in 1996 by concerned Northern Virginia parents of children with autism. Our mission is to educate parents, school personnel, elected officials, and the general public about autism and effective, scientifically-validated interventions. Our activities include a focus on intensive early interventions, a parent support group, sponsorship of medical, scientific, and educational speakers, educating parents about their legal rights, encouraging parents to get involved in their children’s education, and the development of a charter school for children with autism. Our goal is to ensure that all children with autism reach their greatest potential.
