At Pathfinder, Inc. in Cave Springs, we understand that it can be difficult to figure out if your child needs speech therapy. We believe that speech therapy is key for autistic children, as many have difficulty with social communication. Speech therapy focuses on skills such as responding to questions, starting and ending conversations, changing conversation topics, and understanding body language. It’s important to start early, as the brain has a critical period for language development. If your child is very verbal but still struggles with communication, or is very quiet and says few words or none at all, it might be time to look into speech therapy. For more information, we have compiled a comprehensive guide to everything you need to know about speech therapy.
