With 36 years of experience in the field, she has been with the University Behavioral Center since its inception in 1989 and has seen her patients grow and thrive through her dedicated service. Dr. Akhtar’s expertise in the treatment of trauma was nurtured through her medical school training in India, her residency in North Carolina, and her experience working in hospitals including Duke University and The Children’s Psychiatric Institute.
