Special Olympics Illinois (SOILL) is a state-wide organization with a presence in all 102 counties, providing athletes with the opportunity to compete in events at the local, state, and international level. Region J Highland is a part of the 11 geographic Regions of SOILL, and provides programming to people in Bond, Calhoun, Clinton, Fayette, Jersey, Macoupin, Madison, Monroe, Montgomery, St. Clair, and Washington counties. The Region Team is managed by a Region Director and is comprised of various individuals who are responsible for sports programming, fundraising campaigns, as well as outreach, communication, and education initiatives. At the local level, athletes compete in Region Qualifiers, and those earning a gold medal may advance to the next level of competition, generally the State Championships.
