If you’re wondering if your child may need speech therapy, the Speech Center of Southern Arizona can help. Speech therapy is often recommended for autistic children as they often have difficulty with social communication. Even if a child is very verbal, they may need to work on communication skills such as responding to questions, starting conversations, changing conversation topics, and understanding body language. Speech therapy is a key component in early intervention for autistic children, and it’s important to start language and communication training as early as possible. If you notice your child struggling with speaking—being very quiet, saying only a few words, or not speaking at all—it may be time to consider speech therapy. The Speech Center of Southern Arizona has a guide to help you understand everything you need to know about speech therapy.
