At Speech & Language Center at Stone Oak, we understand that it can be difficult to know if your child needs speech therapy. If your child is autistic, they may benefit from speech therapy to help with social communication skills like responding to questions, starting or ending conversations, changing conversation topics, and using gestures. Speech therapy is an important part of early intervention for autistic children, as there is a critical period in the brain for language development. If your child is very quiet, says only a few words, or doesn’t speak at all, it may be time to consider speech therapy. Our comprehensive guide can help you learn more about what speech therapy is, how it works, and how it can benefit your child.
