Founded in 1975, The Arc of Southern Maryland is a private 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to advocating for, and providing services to, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Affiliated with The Arc of Maryland and The Arc of the United States, the world’s largest grassroots organization of and for people with disabilities, The Arc of Southern Maryland focuses on providing support and resources in order to ensure individuals and families can be fully engaged in their communities. The Arc works with a federation of local and state chapters to create a strong network of human services and civil rights advocates, promoting and protecting the needs of people with disabilities on all levels.
