UIC’s Department of Psychiatry (Child and Adolescent Services) is dedicated to advancing research, education, and service focused on major psychiatric disorders and mental well-being. We strive to provide new, useful knowledge in the areas of neuroscience, prevention, social and clinical services that can positively impact people with mental illnesses, their families, and communities. We are committed to UIC’s urban mission of providing service, education, and research that enhances lives. Our mission is to deliver the highest quality mental health services with sensitivity and respect to the patient and their family. We are also dedicated to mental health research to improve illness until a cure is found and ultimately prevent mental illness and disorder. Our goal is to instill in our students and trainees cutting-edge knowledge and skills, respect for patients, and the values of a health professional in a just and humane society.
